La XXVII Semana Olímpica Canaria de Vela vivió hoy una tercera jornada vibrante, marcada por unas condiciones meteorológicas excepcionales que, al igual que en los días previos, ofrecieron a regatistas y espectadores un escenario perfecto para la competición. A las clases ILCA 6 y 470, protagonistas desde el jueves, se sumó hoy la espectacular modalidad de WingFoil, que aportó velocidad y dinamismo a una bahía llena de color.
La jornada ha sido también decisiva para muchos deportistas, ya que este sábado ha supuesto el último día de series previas antes del cambio de formato. Mañana domingo arrancan las esperadas Medal Race de las clases ILCA 6 y 470, una prueba final y puntuación doble que definirá a los campeones. Como gran novedad, la regata podrá seguirse en directo por streaming, y desde la organización se anima al público a acercarse a la Avenida Marítima, donde el formato Medal Race permitirá disfrutar del campo de regatas mucho más próximo a la costa.

ILCA 6 – Categoría Femenina
Dominio claro de la irlandesa Eve McMahon, que cierra el día en lo más alto de la clasificación general. Le sigue la neerlandesa Maxime van der Werken, en una excelente línea de regularidad, mientras que el tercer puesto lo ocupa la británica Hannah Snellgrove, firme candidata al podio de mañana.
ILCA 6 – Categoría Masculina
El liderazgo masculino es para el holandés Alexander Hartsink, que ha mostrado solidez en todas las mangas del día. El segundo puesto es para el húngaro Benedek Heder, seguido por el español Alonso Pérez, que continúa escalando posiciones con un rendimiento muy consistente.
WingFoil
La incorporación de esta modalidad dejó imágenes espectaculares gracias a unas condiciones idóneas para el vuelo sobre el foil. El canario Ángel Granda se coloca líder de la jornada, seguido por Jenemy Rodríguez, del Club Marítimo Varadero. El tercer puesto es para Ancor Yon Sosa.

En esta clase, las alemanas Simon Diesch y Anna Markford firmaron una jornada sobresaliente que les vale el primer puesto provisional. La pareja formada por Martin Wrigley y Bettine Harris ocupa la segunda posición, mientras que los japoneses Tetsuya Isozaki y Yuri Seki se sitúan terceros tras mantener una actuación sólida durante todo el día.
Con un parte meteorológico que promete mantener las buenas condiciones y el atractivo del nuevo formato de competición, la jornada de mañana se perfila como una de las más emocionantes de esta edición. Third Day of Competition at the 27th Canary Islands Olympic Sailing Week: A show in the Bay and First Leaders Emerging
The 27th Canary Islands Olympic Sailing Week enjoyed a vibrant third day of racing, marked by exceptional weather conditions that, just like in previous days, provided sailors and spectators with a perfect stage for competition. Joining the ILCA 6 and 470 classes — which have been competing since Thursday — was the spectacular WingFoil fleet, adding speed and dynamism to a bay filled with color.
Today was also decisive for many athletes, as this Saturday marked the final day of the qualifying series before the format shift. Tomorrow, Sunday, the eagerly awaited Medal Races for the ILCA 6 and 470 classes will begin — a final, double-points race that will determine the champions. As a major addition this year, the regatta will be broadcast live via streaming, and the organization encourages the public to head to the Avenida Marítima, where the Medal Race format brings the racecourse much closer to shore.

Clear dominance from Irish sailor Eve McMahon, who ends the day at the top of the overall standings. She is followed by Dutch sailor Maxime van der Werken, showing excellent consistency, while third place goes to Britain’s Hannah Snellgrove, a strong podium contender for tomorrow.
